IEEE GLOBECOM 2014 will feature a new, greatly expanded INDUSTRY PROGRAM organized by and for industry practitioners in the communications and networking industries and its broader supporting ecosystem.  The expanded industry program is designed to provide opportunities for the practicing industry professional to both share and learn about the latest ideas, trends, and product innovations in the broader communications and networking industries, while connecting with their peers and other prominent leaders in the industry. 

The INDUSTRY PROGRAM is organized into 6 parallel program tracks with potential topics that include, but are not limited to:

Proposals to fill the above program tracks are being solicited, which can be in the form of the following program components:

  1. Industry Panel Sessions

    Industry panel sessions are 105-minute moderated panel discussions on a specific topic of interest which are scheduled between Tuesday-Thursday of the conference (Dec. 9-11, 2014).  A submission to be a Panel Session Leader, if accepted, is a commitment to arrange the specific topic of interest with 3-5 speakers.  A submission to be a Panel Session Speaker, if accepted, is a commitment to join in with other selected speakers under a specific topic.    Example topics from Globecom 2013 can be found here.

  2. Industry Presentations/Posters

    New for Globecom 2014 is an open call for presentatations on specific topics, ideas, innovations, trends, that the practicing engineer wishes to share with their peers.  Selected submissions will be scheduled into oral presentation slots of 20-30 minutes each or industry poster sessions with a duration of 105 minutes.  These session are going to be held between Tuesday-Thursday of the conference (Dec. 9-11, 2014).
  3. Industry Tutorials

    Industry tutorials are half- or -full day sessions provided by a subject matter expert that delves deep into a particular topic, implementation, tool-flow, or other relevant technical skills that are of interest to the Globecom industry and/or academic participant.  These sessions are scheduled for either the Monday (Dec. 8) or Friday (Dec. 11) of the conference.
  4. Industry Demonstrations

    Industry demonstrations are hardware and/or software demonstrations that are meant to showcase new and exciting technology. Demonstrations shall be scheduled during the opening reception on Monday night and selected sessions on Tuesday-Thursday of the conference (Dec. 9-11, 2014).
  5. Industry Workshops

    Industry workshops are half- or full day sessions organized around a specific topic of interest that can consist of a combination of any of the above program components.  A submission to organize a workshop, if accepted, is a commitment to organize a half- or full-day series of program components around the desired topic.  The industry program organizing committee may suggest to include other accepted submissions from the above components into a workshop if appropriate.

The proposal submission should adhere to the following template:
  • Indication of desired program component and for which program track
  • Title for the proposed panel session/presentation/tutorial/demonstration/workshop
  • Name, affiliation, and email address of the submitter
  • A 200-500 word extended abstract of the proposal
  • Short biography of the submitter 
  • For panel sessions/workshops: Names, affiliations, email address, and brief description of the speakers intended to invite

Acceptance Notification:   2 June 2014
Demos Acceptance Notification: 11 July 2014
Final Speakers/Program:  4 August 2014

Industry Program Dates:  8 - 12 December 2014
